I’m joining in the Teddy Bear FUN to help Stollery kids from my backyard!
I'm participating in Teddy Bear Fun Fest on May 11, 2024 in support of the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
I’m running for my son Asher who was born with Hydrocephalus and Cerebral-palsy.
Asher suffered a significant stroke in utero at 36 weeks gestation. Me and my wife found out at our last ultra sound we had before birth. This turned our world upside down as we were now planning for the birth of our son and it was nothing like we were expecting.
Asher was Born early January 2022 and was moved to the Stollery NICU at two days old. This is where he had his surgery for a shunt to be placed and his recovery took place. Asher was released from hospital after 20 days and our life found some normalcy again.
Through this whole experience the Stollery was amazing, they listened to us, we were filled in every step of the way, the team put our mind at ease in possibly the biggest struggle of our lives. My Wife and I told each other many times how lucky we are to have a specialized children’s hospital in close proximity where our kid could receive world class care.
Asher is now 2 years old and thriving. He is an active smart kid who enjoys running with his brother around the yard and above all swinging in the playground swings. He has never let his disability stop him and proves to me that you can be stronger and braver than you ever thought possible.
He is still followed closely by a team at the Stollery that do checkups with him. Our family takes every opportunity we can to support the Stollery Children’s Hospital in fundraising because it has changed our lives, and has changed the lives of so many other families out there.
